Paul & Nancy Empkie

Paul is a fourth-generation farmer who was born and raised on the Empkie Farm in Port Austin. His wife, Nancy, hails from Detroit, Michigan. Paul and Nancy recently celebrated 38 years of marriage. Paul is in charge of the day-to-day operation of the farm - from ordering seed, to planting & watering, to picking and sorting the produce for sale. Nancy is the head of the retail portion - maintaining and organizing the produce, and of course, interacting with and assisting our customers. Paul and Nancy enjoy traveling, walking together, and spending time with their family and grandchildren.

Brian & Trina Empkie

Brian is the youngest son of Paul & Nancy and was also raised here on the family farm. He and his wife, Trina, were married in May 2016.  His jobs on the farm include planting and caring for our plants, picking produce, and occasionally you will catch him manning the cash register! Brian enjoys fishing, hunting, and spending time with his wife Trina.  They are currently busy working on renovating Brian's grandparents' former home on the farm.

Jen, Danny, Anna & Charles Patterson

Jen is the daughter of Paul & Nancy.  She and her husband, Danny, and two children Anna & Charlie, live in Grand Rapids, Michigan.  The family spends a lot of time on the Empkie Farm where they love to help out whenever possible - whether it be picking tomatoes, selling sweet corn, or carrying bags to cars. They are excited to be teaching the love of land and farming to the next generation!

In Memory
Fred Empkie
1930-2017

Our beloved Dad, Grandpa, and Great-Grandpa passed away in July 2017. Fred was the third generation to farm the Empkie lands. Fred was still very involved in the farm at the end of his life and was invaluable in giving advice and recommendations. Fred enjoyed western movies, playing poker, and spending time with his family and four great-grandchildren. He is dearly missed, but we are so grateful to be surrounded by his farming legacy every day.
